| Building Better Lives® is the initiative of Di Winkler, the founder and CEO of the Summer Foundation, which was established in January 2006 with the specific purpose of conducting practical research and seeking alternate solutions to young people living in nursing homes.
Led by the Summer Foundation, the Building Better Lives® campaign has partnered with five community service organisations that have been appointed by the Department of Human Services to develop new accommodation services for young people in nursing homes. These organisations are working collaboratively to ensure that these new shared supported accommodation services are places of excellence in terms of physical design, fit-out and the use of technology to enable the residents to be as independent as possible. |
